Have you ever hear this expression? Until today, I never quite understood why someone would say "you're acting like a mother hen".
This morning, when I was Abby-walking, the rain was still drizzling but not as hard as it had been the two previous hours. As I walked out the door, I saw a mama hen sitting in the driveway. She was soaking wet and very fat. I couldn't even see her legs. She just sat there and watched Abby and me...mostly, Abby.
Well, as I walked by her on the street she didn't move a feather except for her head with her eyes glaring at me. Then, low and behold, I heard the chirp-chirp-chirp. When, I walked more in front of her and took a closer (but distant) look, I saw why this mama was so fat. She was sitting on her 4 babies keeping the dry from the rain.
I have to tell you, this was the cutest site I'd seen since I saw the babies last week following along after their daddy as he was teaching them to look for food. Spring has sprung.
So, when someone tells you that you're acting like a mother hen...know that you are truly protecting your loved ones.

Earthquake...what to do
In light of the recent happenings in St. Louis, central Illinois and Reno, Nevada, here’s a little quiz that will help you know what to do in case of an earthquake. I took the test and with my score, trust me, you don’t want to be in a house with me if one occurs. Here’s the test.

Earthquake shakes Illinois
This morning at about 4:37am an earthquake hit Central Illinois. The epicenter was in West Salem, Illinois. It rocked a 450 mile radius from St. Louis, Missouri to Chicago, Illinois. No just homes and buildings were effected but Chicago skyscrapers rocked for 5 seconds.
This area borders the New Madrid seismic zone where in 1811 and 1812 the New Madrid fault produced a series of earthquakes estimated at 7.0 or greater.

What do you do with 416 children?
Sure the children taken from the West Texas polygamist sect are all together, for now. But my question is why didn't the authorities have a plan for these children after they were taken from their homes?
I'm not saying that the children should have been left in the camp. Far from that. I do believe young girls are raped, taught from a young age to be subservient and forced to marry far to early. And, all the children are brainwashed just like their mothers.
What I am saying though is that the authorities of the entire State of Texas had to know what was going down so why didn't they have a plan in place? If they did have a plan then why were the children moved so many times? Children need structure. A child can handle leaving a parent if they still have structure, along with good explanations of what is going on.
Personally, I could care less that the mothers are weeping. Although they're brainwashed, the mother's are adults and can make their own decisions. A child, even at a very young age, knows when 'something' isn't right. We're right to want to help the children but we don't need another Waco. What the children needed was a plan...a solid plan.

About the author

Hi and welcome!
The purpose of this blog is to share information that I've heard and find interesting.
I'll also include some of my photographs or illustrations that I've taken or drawn on my LCD canvas that you can downloaded FREE.
My personality is eclectic and even though I'm ultra conservative I do listen to both sides before I form an opinion. You might see some of that come through in my posts...or you might not.
My life today is spent 50 feet from the nearest beach on whichever island we’re on at the time. That’s a requirement of my husband’s and mine. Why live in paradise if you can’t see the beach, right?
My husband and I recently celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. For us, the past 12 years has been a lifetime of happiness. We’ve each brought different backgrounds to the table and embraced the other’s without condition. Never have either of us considered leaving the other. Each of us has been married two times before - thus the children older than our years together ;-). Divorce taught us many lessons: 1) attorneys make a lot of money from our pain, 2) children are better with happy parents apart than unhappy parents together, 3) divorce, as expensive as it is, is easy; staying together takes work, 4) there is such a thing as unconditional acceptance of yourself, your partner, your children and your friends, and 5) enjoy each and everyday as though it is your choice…because it is.
There’s a lot that goes into my life. As simple as a person as I am, I’m also very complex. I answer all e-mails and don’t appreciate spam at all, unless its in a meatloaf. Ok, if you have any questions or comments - my life and my work are open books and free for the asking. From_Diana@yahoo.com is my e-mail. Talk to you soon!!!!

Revelation
I have to do this so I might as well get it out of the way now. ugh! This is my Revelation. I looked up a nicer word than that yucky 'disclosure' word. Revelation has such a nicer tone, don't you think?
So, this is my...revelation: As of today, April 17th, 2008, all of this site is written by me. I edit it too. Just not very well, sometimes. However, some of the posts you'll read, while entertaining as they may be, are posts that I've received cash for advertising in one form or another.
Its a another media or avenue for advertisers to get their word out. I salute them. One reason is because they pay me to do it (yeah!); two, because its another way for those of us that enjoy blogging to make money at the same time; and three, advertisers realize that bloggers have readers! Lots of readers. You probably don't care but just in case you think someone can influence what I write...trust me, not even my hubby, as much as I love him, can influence what I write.
Everything you read on this site, or any of my sites, is 100% me. Advertisers are pretty cool. One of my old classmates from eons ago, and an old bo of mine, is a partner in an ad agency. He's a very cool guy and I know he'd never try to influence me on how I write. Of course, he knows it would be futile. Other adverstisers won't influence me either. Again, an effort in futility.
What advertisers do help me with, other than paying me, is research. I research what I'm talking about and really enjoy it. I read their websites, look at other sites similar to theirs and really learn about what they ask me to write about. That's very cool. I'm all about learning.
As much as these advertisers might consider paying me, I will always be honest with you, my readers. I might add, that while I try to research as much as I can before I write, you should verify the information from them yourself. Just like if you buy peanut butter that's extra crunchy because its what the TV said. You have to check it out for yourself and I really hope you do. You might find a product or service that you or a friend of yours can use. And, you'll remember you read it here! And that, my friends, is very cool.
If you have any questions about how wealthy this is making me (LOL) or the content, just shoot me an e-mail (from_diana@yahoo.com) and I'm happy to answer any questions. Just know, I write from my heart and off-the-cuff.
Ok, this is the end of my 'revelation'. So, now that all the legalities are out of the way...lets have some fun!!!!
Hugs, Diana
